Steven Miller

Coach Miller, a level two certified coach, has made a lifetime commitment to coaching track and cross country. (He was inducted into the Missouri State Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame in 1997).  Steven began the girls track and cross country programs at Francis Howell High School in St. Charles County. His girls track teams won the first twelve consecutive conference meets and his cross country teams attended the state meet sixteen out of their first eighteen seasons while winning two state championships.  He has coached eleven individual state champions in track and three in cross country. He has coached two track athletes that represented the United States in the Olympic Games.

Steven attended high school in Lexington, Missouri where he ran track and played football. Upon graduating from the University of Missouri in Columbia he began his career as an English teacher and coach. He taught several years at Jennings High School before spending the last 32 years at Francis Howell.  Today, he is very excited to be coaching at Villa Duchesne and teaching 7th and 8th grade English.

Coach Miller would like to share the following:

The pursuit of excellence is never ending. All of us should strive to be the best we can be whether in the classroom or on the athletic fields.  We must remember that every athlete and student is of the utmost importance. We must have a positive attitude.  We must respect all and try to bring out the best in everyone.  We must be honest, follow the rules, and play fair.  We must work hard and when we fail we must try again.
