Villa Duchesne/Oak Hill School is developing its facilities to better meet student needs. Oak Hill students will have their own dining space in the Duchesne Building in the 2007-08 school year. This will allow us to provide a lunch menu more appropriate for young children, especially those with food allergies. In addition, the new dining space will allow us to schedule lunch for Oak Hill students independent of the Villa Duchesne lunch schedule.
We will continue updating the pod learning centers. The third and fourth grade pods will receive new paint, carpeting and furniture this summer. The second grade pod was renovated last summer, but now all three pods will receive updated lobbies with new lockers.
The cloister in the 1929 Main Building is already being renovated to create three additional classrooms and nine faculty offices. Our college counseling offices are being renovated too. We are creating an office suite to better serve our students when they meet with college representatives. In addition, students will benefit from increased security at the student services office as well as additional lockers. Our entire school community will also be better served when we replace the antiquated elevator in our 1929 Main Building.
This expansion project that we call Bridge to our Future was only made possible because of the generosity of Sr. Ghio and Sr. Herbst. They agreed to move from the 1929 Main Building to a house adjacent to our campus that was purchased this winter. This opened 9,000 square feet of school space and allowed us to expand our facilities to meet the expanding needs of our students.
We are also grateful for the generosity of our school community. We are blessed to already have $2.2 million of the $2.4 million necessary to fund these renovations and the purchase of the property adjacent to our campus. It is only with your support that we are able to continue providing students with the very best in Sacred Heart education.
Thank you for building a Bridge to our Future with us.
