Service is an integral part of a Sacred Heart education and therefore is a regular part of the Oak Hill curriculum. Beginning in junior kindergarten students learn about the needs of those less fortunate. In addition to prayer, each class chooses a service action project for the year. These projects may include making cards for the lonely, collecting "Pennies for the Penniless," holding a bake sale, or visiting the elderly in a nursing home. We are particularly proud of the Student Council sponsored "Giving Tree" where the entire school participates in specific monthly activities that address the needs of others. The goal of Oak Hill's service learning effort is not only to educate the students to a social awareness, but to also instill the attitudes of respect and responsibility for all of God's creation.

Oak Hill students team up with Villa Duchesne students annually for the Dance Marathon. This is just one of the ways in which students live Goal 3: a social awareness which impels to action. |
